Dear MADA Competitor Families,

We are excited to share details for the 2025-2026 season regarding class requirements and ballet placement. Please read carefully, as some updates apply specifically to your dancer’s team. We apologize for the delay for these announcements, as we have had a difficult time getting our email system running again with our DSP software.

Rhinestones & Pearls

  • Ballet Class: Both teams will share a combined Ballet class (ages 8–11). This class will not compete but it is a requirement.

  • Pearl Evaluations: Pearls with 6+ years of ballet training and who are 10+ years old will be evaluated on the first day of class to determine if they should move up to PrePointe. PrePointe is scheduled at the same time as the combined Ballet class, so a change would not affect their schedule. Both technique and strength are required for PrePointe and we do not want to start girls who aren’t ready. If your student meets the criteria for PrePointe evaluations, please discuss with them this potential and that they will be evaluated the first day of classes for which ballet class they go into (Intermediate Ballet or PrePointe).

  • PrePointe Notes: Moving into PrePointe does not mean receiving Pointe shoes. It simply places dancers in a higher-level Ballet class (ages 10–14) suited to their training. PrePointe dancers still wear soft ballet shoes all year. Pointe is a long-term goal but not required, your student can still take PrePointe as their ballet/technique class even if Pointe is not their goal. If your Pearl moves up to PrePointe, they will still stay in their other Pearl Team classes (Jazz and Tap).

  • Lyrical Option for Pearls in PrePointe: Pearls who move up to PrePointe will also be invited to join Sapphire Lyrical. They may choose to take Sapphire Lyrical, stay in Pearl Lyrical, or participate in both, however, lyrical is not a requirement. If they are moved up to PrePointe, they will have the option of joining Sapphire Lyrical but we want the parents to be included on this decision and not leave it up to the student by themselves! Ms. Malory will contact parents about this prior to the first day of classes so there is a mutual understanding.

  • Required Classes:

    • Rhinestones → Tap, Jazz, and the combined Ballet class

    • Pearls → Tap, Jazz, and either the combined Ballet class or PrePointe (teachers will finalize after evaluations)

Sapphires & Diamonds

  • Sapphires: Required to take Tap, Jazz, and PrePointe. Tap will be combined with Diamonds. Sapphires will have the option of Sapphire Lyrical.

  • Diamonds: Will join Sapphires for the large combined Tap class, and will also have an additional separate Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical class. Diamonds are not required to take all classes, but are recommended to. However we understand that not all classes will work with all schedules.

Pointe & PrePointe

  • Students who were in PrePointe last season will remain in PrePointe for at least one more semester unless specifically recommended for Pointe.

  • Pointe recommendations have been emailed individually, based on readiness and strength in the feet and ankles. Students who are in Pointe are also required to take Advanced Ballet which is the class right before Pointe on Thursday evenings.

  • If your dancer was not recommended this year, please know they are still making excellent progress and building toward this milestone at the right pace.

We are so proud of the growth and dedication our dancers continue to show, and we look forward to another season of learning, teamwork, and fun! If you have questions about teams, scheduling, or anything else, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Malory. We will try our best to accommodate student’s schedules and needs so they can participate in both dance and other activities/sports they love while still showing a commitment to dance.

Please register your student in your Parent Portal for their classes ASAP!

Thank you,

MADA Staff
